When we posted a job ad recently for a presenter for a corporate job we were filming. Joel Kafetz’s presenter job application stood out a mile because he said this:

I loved your website. What an impressive client list! I particularly liked your ‘ThemThere’ film. Very stylish and atmospheric.

You know, it’s very rare that anyone actually mentions us in their cover letter, let alone compliments our work. Usually, it’s all about them saying why they’d be great for the role, not about why they want the role, or want to work for us. The fact that Joel had done a bit of research and showed an interest in us made me spend a good amount of time on his CV and showreel. Unfortunately, he wasn’t quite right for the job we had in hand, but he’s now on our radar, and when the right job does come up, I’d like to work with him. Now, he might not have had a successful presenter job application, but he will go far if he keeps making that kind of positive impression when he applies for work.

Clearly Creative CVs tip: In your presenter job application, show an interest in the company you’re applying to.
