Great video. Highlights some of the inadequacies still prevailing in media. I remember in the late 80s, when I was really becoming aware of this kind of stuff, thinking yeah, we can change this. Now, nearly thirty years on, we seem to be in just as bad a place as we were then.
What bothers me most out of these examples are the women politicians. Now, all politicians are targets for being belittled, but how can we live in a real democracy when women can’t stand in office without being criticised on grounds of their gender alone. Sure, challenge their opinions, double standards, their policies. Just don’t undermine them simply because they’re women.
Another good clip, though fiction, is Lisa Kudro in Scandal, all about how media can subtly undermine women.
